India entered into the third and the largest phase of vaccination where everyone between the age of 18 and 44 years are eligible to take the vaccine. The vaccination drive is being conducted across the country and to get the vaccine, citizens are supposed to register for it via the right channel.
However, a new image has started circulating on social media that says instant messaging app Telegram can also be used to register and book Covid-19 vaccine appointments using MyGov Corona Vaccine Appt, The image also contains a phone number and a URL with a CTA click to interact with My Corona Vaccine Appt. The post also has an image of Prime Minister Narendra modi.
Soon after the image went viral on social media, the PIB Fact Check busted it and mentioned in one of its tweets that it is morphed and MyGov has nothing to do with the number mentioned in the post or the telegram account.
The tweet reads, “Claim:#COVID19 vaccination appointment can be booked on Telegram using ‘MyGov Corona Vaccine Appt’
#PIBFactCheck:This image is #Morphed. Neither this number nor Telegram account is associated with @mygovindia
Register for the vaccine on http://cowin.gov.in,UMANG or Aarogya Setu.”
To remind, the appointment for Covid-19 vaccine is only happening via Cowin website, Aarogya Setu app and Umang app. You can also click here to read our step-by-step guide on how to book the appointment for Covid-19 vaccine.
